Guest Seminar: Gemma Modinos, PhD FYAE FHEA
We are excited to host Gemma Modinos as the next speaker this year in our remote seminar series. Gemma's lab uses translational brain imaging techniques in humans and animal models to investigate the neural mechanisms involved in emotion and their role in the development of psychotic symptoms and disorders. The seminar will take place remotely on April 30, 2020, at 12 pm during the ZPF Project Seminar Series.
Abstract
This talk will provide a bitesize overview of three main research themes within our lab: (1) Neural basis of emotional disturbance along a psychosis continuum; (2) Translational approaches to the neurochemistry of emotional disturbance in psychosis risk; and (3) A big data approach to subclinical psychotic-like experiences through the ENIGMA Schizotypy consortium.
About the speaker
Gemma is a Sir Henry Dale Fellow and Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience at King's College London. Gemma's lab uses translational brain imaging techniques in humans and animal models to investigate the neural mechanisms involved in emotion and their role in the development of psychotic symptoms and disorders. They also apply psychopharmacological approaches to probe how to intervene on those neural mechanisms early to prevent or delay the development of psychosis. Besides such mechanistic studies, Gemma is also Chair of the ENIGMA Schizotypy consortium, bringing together worldwide schizotypy researchers aiming to delineate the neural signature of subclinical psychotic-like experiences in healthy individuals.
